2100 North Exit ramps reduced to one lane until 2020

Construction under the I-15 bridge located at the 2100 North exit has been delayed Friday, November 30. Crews will be lowering the road under the bridge to provide better clearance. The ramps will be open, but there will be no access to northbound I-15 coming from the west side of 2100 North, and no southbound access to I-15 coming from the east side of 2100 North during that weekend of construction only.

Lowering the road under the bridge at 2100 North is part of bigger changes that are coming to that exit (282). For the next two years, the 2100 North exit will be a diverging diamond configuration like SR-92 and Pioneer Crossing, but there will be only one lane getting on I-15 going north, and one lane to get on going south. “The diverging diamond is the best way to help traffic flow during construction,” said Boyd Humphreys, UDOT Project Manager. “It won’t feel like that big of a change.”

Humphreys suggested that commuters use the new Triumph Bridge to get to the frontage roads on the east and west of I-15to gain access to the SR-92 on-ramps or the Lehi Main Street freeway on-ramps during construction. Triumph Bridge is not an on-ramp to the freeway, but it does provide access to the frontage roads that lead to on and off-ramps.

Drivers coming from south or west of 2100 North will not be able to access Mountain Point Medical, 3000 N. Triumph Blvd, from 2100 North during the weekend of Friday, November 30 to Sunday, December 2. It may also be difficult to get to Mountain Point Medical quickly coming from the south on 2100 North once the one-lane diverging diamond is in place. The best alternative route to Mountain Point Medical during the bridge closure and the two years of construction will be the new Triumph Bridge overpass by the Megaplex at Thanksgiving Point.

“The best thing to do is drive cautiously and be mindful of detours,” said Humphreys. “All the functions will be there at 2100 North, just reduced lanes. People are going to need to expect delays.” Other projects along the Technology Corridor will be completed before the 2100 North exit, which will add features and possible alternative routes as well.
