“I’ve found a new sport,” said former NFL football player Seante Williams, about his first experience competing in the NPC Utah Classic Championship held at Cottonwood High School last week. Williams, along with three other Lehi area athletes, competed in the day-long bodybuilding event. Their trainer and coach, Kenny Knight, who is the founder and owner of Rage Fitness in Lehi,  guided the athletes through months of muscle building and nutritional preparation.

Williams placed first in the Men’s 35+ Masters, and fourth in the Men’s True Novice division. “I fell in love with the sport,” Williams said. Dana Murray, who competed in three women’s categories, placed third in the Women’s 35+ Masters category, fifth in the Women’s Novice division, and second in the Open Class. “I went without any expectations and was surprised to place in all three categories,” said Murray. The top two winners in the Open Class are allowed to compete in national competitions for a year.

Jennifer Westwood, who competed in her second show, did not place but had a great experience. “I had a lot of support from family and friends. I also learned a lot and will be back in April competing again.” The recent event was competitor Samantha Keffer’s third show. She said, “I definitely put on the muscle I needed to, and now I’m just ‘leaning down’ the muscles.” Keffer will compete again in November in the Idaho Cup.

Regarding his athletes’ impressive performance, Knight said, “I was really proud of all of the Rage athletes, but very excited about Seante and Dana’s awards. They worked hard for months, building muscle, and following a precise nutrition plan. I was happy to be a part of their success.”

Knight, who is always looking for more people to join the “Rage family,” coaches high school and club youth sports teams and assists people of all fitness levels reach their goals. “Rage stands for ‘real athletes generate energy.’ We have programs for people who have never worked out in their life, to seasoned athletes, to elite bodybuilders,” said Knight.
