Lehi Fire & Police to participate in “Mayhem in the Metal Land” bombing simulation

This Sunday, June 3, at 10 a.m., UTA, along with several local and federal agencies will hold a full-scale safety exercise at the FrontRunner platform in American Fork (782 W. 200 S. American Fork).  The Lehi Fire and Police departments will participate. The event has been titled “Mayhem in the Metal Land.” Preparations and scene set up will occur throughout the day on Sunday.

The safety exercise is designed as a learning experience for emergency responders to exercise plans, policies, and procedures as they pertain to a simulated terrorist bombing incident on a FrontRunner train. Operational coordination, operational communication, on-scene security protection and law enforcement will be points of emphasis.

Other departments that will be involved are the FBI, Utah County Sheriffs, Utah Valley Dispatch, American Fork Hospital, Orem Community Hospital, Life Flight and other nearby municipal fire and police agencies.

Residents and passersby are reminded that this is an exercise. There will be radio communications simulating an emergency. Should a real emergency occur, that event would take priority over a simulated exercise.
