As of November 8, the Lehi City municipal election results are too close to definitively call. With only 18.14% of eligible ballots counted, challenger Mark Johnson leads incumbent Mayor Bert Wilson by 137 votes. Wilson has 2,196 votes and Johnson has 2,332, or 3% more than Wilson.

Results will continue to be tabulated by the Utah County Clerk’s office. An update is expected on Thursday, November 9 at 3 p.m. Final official results are not expected until late November. With information so readily available on nearly every topic through the internet, waiting for election results seems excruciatingly slow.

In the two open Lehi City Council seats, the incumbents will likely be re-elected. Chris Condie leads with 2,816 votes, and Paul Hancock has garnered 2,458 votes so far. Newcomer Bailey Holmes, with 1,842 votes is in a strong third place. Sean Williams has 1,216 votes as of Tuesday night.

In an informal poll of Lehi citizens, most like the convenience of voting by mail. There were a few voters who didn’t receive ballots at their homes and had to track down ballots with Utah County Clerk/Election office. One voter said, “I voted about a week ago after I watched the mayoral debate online. It was so easy to just drop my ballot in the mail.”

The Lehi Free Press will continue to monitor election results and will publish them on www.lehifreepress.com and in future editions of the Lehi Free Press.
