On August 13, 2016, the street team at Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors (CBC Advisors) sponsored its second annual 5K run for the “Just for Kids” organization, a nonprofit providing academic- and activity-based programs for individuals with special needs and their families. The run was held at Olympic Park in Lehi and just over 250 participants raised $20,000 for the HIVES (Habilitation Independence Vocation Education Socialization) programs.

While the fun run was the main attraction, there were other things there to help in raising funds for the HIVES program. Michelle Holbrook, run coordinator and Lehi native, said, “Because it’s the kids’ event, students contribute to the fundraising by auctioning off baked goods and homemade crafts.”

Bill Street, Investment Sales Specialist and team member of the CBC Advisors, said, “We are so impressed with ‘Just for Kids’ and the charter of their organization. This event last year helped raise enough money to buy a bus for their program and continued its successful program development again this year.”

“Just for Kids” provides opportunities and activities that allow special needs children to become independent and learn to socialize. Some activities include sports, academic help, tournaments, and summer school among many others. Professionally trained individuals lead these programs and help “Just for Kids” members to develop those skills needed to build self-confidence and self-assurance.
