Obituaries: Sarah Ellen Barratt Price

Sarah Ellen Barratt Price, a longtime resident of the Lehi area, died at the age of 96, Sunday the 5th of June at the Charleston in Cedar Hills. She was born May 23, 1920, in Burton Idaho. Sarah was a graduate of American Fork High School, where she excelled in Art and Literature.

Sarah was a well-known artist, seamstress and designer. She began sewing at the age of 10 and continued a life long career until her retirement at the age of 80 years. She was costume director of several companies including Ballet West, and Utah Regional Ballet. Sarah also designed and executed costumes for New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Pasadena Dance Theatre. Sarah dearly loved making elegant pageant and wedding gowns.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving as Relief Society President, Jr Sunday School Coordinator, Stake Young Women’s President, Drama Director and teacher in the auxiliaries.

She married Dean James Price, April 21, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. She is survived by five children, Suellen (Larry) Baum, Sharron (Bruce) Woolstenhulme, Deanna (David) Thompson, Jacqueline (Joseph) Colledge and David (Carolyn) Price, 22 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held 6-8 pm, Friday June 10th, at Wing Mortuary 118 East Main St. Lehi, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 11th at 11:00 am in the Lehi 12th Ward LDS Chapel, 1149 North 300 West. Viewing one hour prior to service. Online guest book at http://www.wingmortuary.com.
